Hello, welcome my name is Zac. Perhaps you are interested in mine and my pottery story.
If you are not interested that is very understandable. However if you are…
I discovered pottery at a relatively young age at school. and became immediately enthralled by the craft. I loved the journey of a seeing lump of clay (at one point dug from the earth). being moulded by my hands into a form, which then travels through intense heat to become something which you can eat and drink out of.
I practiced for many years at school spending large amounts of time in the art studio. I studied ceramics also in Cardiff for two years, the resources there allowed for experimentation within my craft.
Now I am back at my home in Guernsey I have an electric kiln and wheel of my own, allowing for the creation and firing of my work in a more focused way. I have cultivated through trial and error, a style of studio pottery which I am happy with - I feel like it reflects the beauty of the natural clay bodies, glazes and oxides I use. I am now looking to add more creativity in my work. I see potential of the healing power of creativity, I see how it can be so joyful, exploring and building upon that facet of my mind and craft, I hope it can be blended into my more disciplined and refined homeware.
In Guernsey I spend my time growing vegetables, hiking the cliffs and swimming in our beautiful sea. When going overseas I enjoy hiking through lovely scenery and mountains, swimming in rivers and lakes.
Stay tuned for upcoming classes !
